Voto Latino Honors MS NOW Laura Barrón-López with the 2026 “Our Voices” Impactful Storytelling Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Voto Latino Foundation, the leading nonpartisan civic engagement organization focused on informing and empowering a new generation of Latino voters, is proud to announce MS NOW White House Reporter Laura Barrón-López will receive the 2026 Our Voices Impactful Storytelling Award.

Laura Barrón-López is a distinguished White House Reporter for MS NOW, recognized for her incisive coverage of the Trump administration and high-level executive shifts. Her recent reporting has tackled critical national issues, from the dismissals of top cabinet officials to the evolving narratives surrounding international conflict and domestic security.

Before joining MS NOW, Barrón-López established herself as a formidable presence at PBS NewsHour, CNN, and POLITICO. Throughout her career, she has masterfully navigated the complexities of the West Wing and Capitol Hill, focusing on the power dynamics behind gun violence, immigration, and voting rights. Barrón-López’s most recent reporting for MS NOW includes President Trump’s firings of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi, the White House’s relationship with FBI Director Kash Patel, the ICE-related shootings in Minnesota, the administration’s shifting narrative around the Iran war, and more regarding the Trump Administration.

A seasoned veteran of the trail, she has covered three presidential campaigns and spent over six years reporting on Congress. In 2024, Barrón-López was honored with a Peabody Award for her work on the PBS NewsHour team’s coverage of the Israel-Hamas war.

“Whether she is uncovering the raw reality of mass deportations or centering the voices of those impacted by government policy, Laura Barrón-López proves that our presence in newsrooms is essential to an accurate and honest democracy. She brings the perspective of our community to the forefront, demanding transparency and truth. We are honored to present her with the Impactful Storytelling Award, celebrating her unwavering commitment to centering people over power and inspiring the next generation of Latino journalists to claim their seat at the table,” said Beatriz Lopez, Executive Director of the Voto Latino Foundation. As a third-generation Chicana, Laura has moved from the scrums of Congress to the White House lawn, consistently forcing an end to indifference through her courageous and empathetic storytelling.”

For nearly two decades, Voto Latino has fought to ensure that Latino voices are being heard. Not only at the ballot box, but also in newsrooms, on air, and behind the scenes. Laura Barrón-López will be celebrated at the Voto Latino Foundation’s annual Our Voices reception on April 24, 2026, in Washington, D.C.
