About Our Voices

Founded in 2009, Our Voices award initiative was inspired by Maria Teresa Kumar, Voto Latino Foundation President and Co-Founder, a Latina media professional who recognized a persistent gap in representation across national broadcast spaces. Rather than accepting that narrative, she created a space to convene talented professionals and industry decision-makers, fostering visibility, access, and meaningful connection.

The Our Voices award ceremony is annually hosted by María Teresa Kumar and Rosario Dawson, resulting in a a curated, high-trust environment where relationships are built, ideas are exchanged, and influence is activated in real time.

Our awardees are breaking barriers, amplifying underrepresented voices, and redefining who is seen, heard, and empowered. From journalists to media leaders, each profile reflects a story of impact, leadership, and change. Past honorees include leaders from 60 Minutes, ABC News, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, and CNN, with awardees such as Rashida Jones, Cesar Conde, Cecilia Vargas, Fin Gomez, and Jim Acosta.
