Fuse Media and Voto Latino Foundation Renew Long-Standing Partnership
Inspire, Encourage Latino Participation in the 2020 Presidential and Local Elections
Multimedia Campaign to Utilize Fuse’s ‘Be Change’ Social Responsibility Initiative
New York, New York – Fuse Media and Voto Latino Foundation announced today that they are once again joining forces to inspire and encourage Latinx participation in November’s general election. Fuse Media and Voto Latino Foundation previously partnered to engage Latinx youth during the 2008 and 2016 election cycles. The current campaign will be part of Be Change, the call-to-action social responsibility initiative Fuse launched earlier this year and will encourage people to Be Counted. Be Change.
Aimed at engaging potential and active voters to bring awareness to the significance of being counted at the elections and helping Voto Latino Foundation meet their goal of 500,000 voters registered for this election cycle, Be Counted. Be Change will include a series of vignettes featuring singer Amara La Negra, actress Dascha Polanco, journalist Mariana Atencio, Steven Garza (Boys State), along with the hosts of Fuse’s Like, Share, Dimelo, Dee Nasty (Darlene Demorizi) and Sasha Merci. The vignettes will air on the Fuse and FM (Fuse Music) linear channels, on Fuse.tv and across the Fuse Media social accounts.
Linear programming stunts including National Voter Registration Day: We’ve Got Issues (September 22) and Election 2020: We’ve Got Issues (November 2) will include powerful documentary films such as Killer in Our Classroom: Never Again and Colossus, spotlighting some of the biggest issues facing the country today, and reminding viewers why it’s important to vote. Fuse will also create a series of on-air lower thirds driving to c3.votolatino.org for more information about voting in viewers’ respective states.
“Forty percent of the 32 million Latinx Americans eligible to vote in the 2020 election are 34 years or younger, placing them directly within our audience composition,” said Fuse Media CEO Miguel (Mike) Roggero. “By once again partnering with Voto Latino Foundation, Fuse provides a national platform to educate and inform our audience that by registering and voting this November they are empowered to actively drive change for a better tomorrow. And, while the national presidential election is important, our Be Change messaging will also emphasize the significance of participating at the local level where young voters have the opportunity to make a real impact on their communities.”
“This year, the Latinx community will be the second-largest voting bloc and a major force in the electorate, especially young Latinxs,” said María Teresa Kumar, President and CEO of Voto Latino. “Communicating the impact of their voice to young Latinx voters is critical and we’re honored to be working with Fuse to empower young Latinxs to get involved, speak up for their community, and vote.”
The Voto Latino Foundation and Fuse Media partnership dates back to the 2008 U.S. presidential election and is just one example of Fuse Media’s 15-year history of advocating for the issues most important to its audience. Last month, Fuse Media announced a partnership with Climate Power 2020 and Stacey Abrams to draw attention to the impact of climate change on communities of color and encourage people to vote for politicians that include environmental responsibility as part of their platform.
