Voto Latino Foundation and MS NOW Partner to Mobilize Voters for National Voter Registration Day Tomorrow in Austin, Texas
Washington, D.C. — The Voto Latino Foundation (VLF) and MS NOW today announced a national partnership to drive voter registration on National Voter Registration Day (NVRD). The partnership will anchor a flagship on-campus activation at The University of Texas at Austin, combining VLF’s on-the-ground organizing infrastructure with MS NOW’s mission as an independent, pro-democracy newsroom committed to keeping people informed, engaged and empowered, grounded in the belief that access to trusted information is essential to meaningful participation in our democracy.
The collaboration pairs MS NOW with VLF’s trusted, community-level organizing infrastructure, built specifically for Latino communities. Tomorrow, VL-on-Campus student leaders, including partners from Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity and Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., will lead a high-energy activation at The University of Texas at Austin, a campus of more than 50,000 students where more than 25 percent identify as Hispanic.
The activation will create an engaging, on-campus experience where students can learn about civic participation, register to vote, explore volunteer opportunities, and share their voices around the importance of voting.
Just days later, MS NOW will return to the Lone Star State for an all-day live community event on Sept. 26 at the University of Texas at Arlington. MS NOW Live: Together in Texas will give attendees a unique, front-row experience with their favorite MS NOW anchors and reporters during a full day of programming and big conversations in the heart of Texas. An art installation featuring contributions from University of Texas at Austin students will debut as an activation tomorrow in Austin before going on display at the University of Texas at Arlington.
