Voto Latino Honors CBS News’ Weijia Jiang with the 2026 “Our Voices” Trailblazer Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Voto Latino Foundation, the leading nonpartisan civic engagement organization focused on informing and empowering a new generation of Latino voters, is proud to announce CBS News’ Senior White House Correspondent Weijia Jiang will receive the 2026 Our Voices Trailblazer Award.

Weijia Jiang is the Senior White House Correspondent for CBS News and a historic trailblazer in political journalism. As the first woman of color elected president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, Jiang has covered the White House since 2018, reporting on two impeachments, the COVID-19 pandemic, and multiple presidential campaigns.

An Emmy-winning journalist, Jiang is recognized for her fearless questioning in the briefing room and her extensive reporting on the increased violence against the AAPI community and the resulting policy changes. From her roots as a student reporter at age 13 to traveling the world on Air Force One, she has consistently delivered high-stakes coverage for the CBS Evening News and CBS Mornings. A member of the Asian American Journalists Association, Jiang continues to shape the national narrative through accountability-driven storytelling.

“As an immigrant who rose to the pinnacle of political reporting, Weijia Jiang is a living reminder that diverse voices are not just a preference, but a necessity for a healthy democracy. She is a trailblazer who understands that being ‘seen and heard’ is a revolutionary act in rooms where the biggest decisions in our country are made. From her fearless questioning during the COVID-19 pandemic to her historic leadership at the WHCA, Weijia has consistently lived up to the highest values of the journalism profession by demanding answers for the public when they matter most,” said Beatriz Lopez, Executive Director of the Voto Latino Foundation.

For nearly two decades, Voto Latino has fought to ensure that Latino voices are being heard. Not only at the ballot box, but also in newsrooms, on air, and behind the scenes. Weijia Jiang will be celebrated at the Voto Latino Foundation’s annual Our Voices reception on April 24, 2026, in Washington, D.C.
